Fall 2022

It’s time to prepare for Dual Credit classes.

I’ve sent an email to all students currently enrolled in ENG 101 & COM 115.

WE USE D2L FOR COLLEGE COURSES, SO IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH HOW TO ACCESS D2L, CHECK THIS RESOURCE BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS.

Dual-Credit Speech students need to purchase or rent their textbook. You can do that by clicking on this link and inputting COM 115 JC for the course and section. JCHS has a few copies in the library. See email I sent for details.

These are college level courses:

  • We run at a college pace.
  • Read college level materials.
  • Students are expected to produce college level work.
  • We do not slow down for homecoming and other high school interruptions.
  • You will have homework on weekends and snow days.
  • You need reliable internet outside of school.
  • If you cannot complete all academic requirements for the course, it will negatively affect your grades.
  • Students who expect this class to be like sophomore English 2 are often disappointed and find themselves in over their heads.

Here’s the syllabus for speech.

Here’s the syllabus for English 101.

Too often students expect to get college credit without doing college level work and they struggle mightily. Talk with parental units and guidance counselors if you need to change your schedule.
