Week 5: Pause or Move Forward

Students have a survey question to answer re: pausing to revisit Macbeth or moving forward with self-directed research for Essay 2.

Once they answer that survey (due Tuesday, 02/01) we will either pause to revisit Macbeth or begin preliminary research for Essay 2.

MetaReflections should be written every Friday. Students should have 4 weeks’ worth of entries composed as we start week 5. Check the MetaReflection Prompt Page for details.

Monday 01/17/22: No School MLK DAY

Week 3:

  • Email Borg by Monday 01/17 – see D2L for details.
  • 01/18-01/21 – conference with Borg and draft Essay 1: Writing from Annotated Bibs
  • The original prompt says 1000-words, you can do 500+ words for this one. Most folks go 750-ish or more, but you can do a solid document in a shorter paper too.
  • MetaReflection week 3

Week 4:

  • Draft due Friday 1/21 – Sunday 1/23
  • Peer review & polish
  • Final due Sunday 01/30 by 11:59 pm – leave extension agreement info in notes when you submit.
  • Pairs – each person should upload a copy of the same essay in D2L.
  • MetaReflection week 4

COM 115 – JC

Week 3:

  • Quiz: Chapters 1& 2 Tuesday 01/18 – open note but not open book
  • Rotate & discuss Speech 1 & reflections
  • Work on Speech 2: Declamations
    • Annotate scripts
    • Write and submit analysis
    • Start working with rehearsal partners
    • Read Chapters 3& 10 & take notes

Week 4:

  • Conference with Borg
  • Rehearse Declamation Speech
  • Work on Analysis for Speech 2 – due later this week (see D2L for details)
  • Delivery Exercises: eye contact, tongue twisters, vocal fillers, etc.
  • Read: Chapters 3 & 10 – quiz will be open note but not open book
